Polish Security Policy at the Center of Debate in Denmark – Lecture by Damian Szacawa

Dr. Damian Szacawa, Head of the Baltic Team at the Institute of Central Europe, delivered a guest lecture at the University of Southern Denmark (Syddansk Universitet) in Odense, focusing on key issues related to regional security.

During the event, he addressed three major areas: the implications of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for the Baltic Sea region, the challenges and opportunities stemming from Poland’s presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, and the importance of the “Northern Turn” in Poland’s foreign and security policy. The visit also included discussions on future cooperation and potential joint research initiatives in the field of Baltic Sea security.

Dr. Szacawa also held meetings with experts from the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) and the Danish Defence College (Forsvarsakademiet). The conversations centered on cooperation frameworks and shared security challenges in the region, underscoring the need to strengthen Nordic–Baltic–Polish partnership in the face of growing threats.
