Aleksandra Kuczyńska-Zonik, an analyst at the Institute of Central Europe, commented for the Interia news portal on the growing problem of Belarusian smuggling balloons entering Lithuanian airspace. In recent months, hundreds of such incursions have been recorded, causing serious disruptions to air traffic, financial losses, and risks to passenger safety.
She stressed that these are not isolated incidents but part of a coordinated sabotage effort intended to put pressure on Vilnius and to test the region’s ability to cooperate and respond swiftly.
