On 27–28 May 2026, Lublin hosted the Three Seas Local Government Congress, one of the region’s leading events dedicated to cooperation among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the development of the Three Seas Initiative.

As part of the Academic Forum, Dr. Grzegorz Gil, Director of the Institute of Central Europe, took part in a panel discussion titled “Building the Potential for Cooperation within the Three Seas Region.” The debate was organized in partnership with the Intermarium Institute and moderated by Aleksandra Jankowska, President of the Institute.
The panel brought together academics, experts, and former diplomats, including Monika Michaliszyn, former Polish Ambassador to Latvia; Dr. Pál Attila Illés, former Consul General of Hungary in Poland; Prof. Arkadiusz Jabłoński, Prof. Piotr Grochmalski, Prof. Wojciech Lis, Urszula Anisiewicz, Fr. Dr. Paweł Lewandowski, and Dr. Agnieszka Romanko.
The discussion focused on opportunities to strengthen cooperation among the countries of the Three Seas region, current geopolitical challenges, and the role of academic institutions, local governments, and business communities in building lasting frameworks for collaboration. Participants emphasized the importance of initiatives that support infrastructure development, security, and social and economic cooperation across Central Europe.
