A Common Front Toward Minsk – Comment by IEŚ Expert for LRT.lt

Dr. habil. Krzysztof Fedorowicz from the Institute of Central Europe in Lublin commented for LRT.lt on Poland’s decision to postpone the reopening of border crossings with Belarus.

According to the expert, Poland’s reaction is fully justified and demonstrates close coordination with Lithuania. – The very fact of cooperation and coordination between the Polish and Lithuanian authorities shows that we share a common position, – emphasized Dr. Fedorowicz.

He noted that Poland has set clear conditions for Belarus, including the release of journalist Andrzej Poczobut and a reduction of migration pressure on the border. – The potential reopening of border crossings may be part of arrangements between Poland and Belarus, – he added.

The IEŚ expert stressed that Poland and Lithuania must act together to avoid being divided by Minsk’s tactics. – We cannot pursue Belarus policy on an “every man for himself” basis, – he concluded.
