Dr Hanna Bazhenova in the documentary “Ukraine and the EU – A Polish Perspective”

In July 2025, a documentary film entitled “Ukraine and the EU – A Polish Perspective” was released, produced by Lion Lehmbecker, Tobias Pardoen, Tola Paturej, and Jakob Seul. The documentary analyses various aspects of recent Polish-Ukrainian relations and their impact on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union, while also trying to answer the question of what role Poland will play in the upcoming accession debates. One of the experts invited to participate in the film was Dr Hanna Bazhenova, Senior Analyst at the Institute of Central Europe. In her commentary, Dr Bazhenova presented the consequences of the ongoing war for Ukraine’s agricultural sector, the role of the EU in exporting agri-food products from Ukraine since 2022, as well as the possible impact of competition in this sector between Poland and Ukraine on the country’s integration with the EU.
