IEŚ Co-Created Publication Featured at an International Exhibition in Tokyo

A bibliophile edition of Wenecja w Kulturze Europejskiej / Venice dans la culture européenne by Prof. Krzysztof Pomian, editorially prepared by Andrzej Peciak—Deputy Director of IEŚ for Publishing—and Dr. hab. Krzysztof Rumowski, Professor at UMCS and a collaborator of the Institute, has been featured at the prestigious World Book Design 2024–2025 exhibition in Tokyo.

The exhibition is being held at the Printing Museum in Tokyo from 13 December 2025 to 22 March 2026. It presents 180 of the world’s most beautifully designed books, selected from titles awarded in international and national book design competitions, including the Best Book Design from all over the World Competition 2025, the Japan Best Book Design Awards, as well as competitions in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, China, and Portugal. The exhibition is curated by Minako Teramoto.

Among the books representing Poland is the bibliophile edition of Wenecja w kulturze europejskiej / Venice dans la culture européenne, designed by Dr. hab. Krzysztof Rumowski. The publication was initiated and co-published by Andrzej Peciak and released by the National Museum in Lublin and Wydawnictwo UMCS (UMCS Press). Printing and binding were carried out by the Akapit printing house in Lublin.

After the exhibition concludes, all of the featured books will be added to the permanent collection of the Printing Museum in Tokyo, a distinction that highlights the excellence of Polish book design.
