Meeting with Adam Michnik on the book “Michnik. Człowiek, który zredagował Polskę”

On 17 March 2026 at 5:00 p.m., the Mała Sala Widowiskowa (Small Auditorium) of ACKiM UMCS Chatka Żaka will host a meeting with Adam Michnik, marking the launch of his two-volume intellectual biography by Anna Nasalska.

With a foreword by Prof. Jan Pomorski, the book offers a thoughtful and in-depth study of Adam Michnik’s ideas, intellectual journey, and role in the history of the Polish intelligentsia in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Michnik. Człowiek, który zredagował Polskę is a story about the power of language, the responsibility of the intellectual, and the importance of disagreement as a foundation of dialogue. It is also a chronicle of a generation that came of age in the shadow of totalitarianism, shaped by dreams of freedom and concerns about the fragility of democracy.

Prof. Jan Pomorski, who wrote the foreword to the book, will also take part in the meeting. The discussion will be moderated by Jakub Halcewicz. The event will offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of the intellectual in public life, the importance of language and dialogue, and the intellectual legacy of recent decades.
