In June 2025, Dr. Hanna Bazhenova, a senior analyst at the Institute of Central Europe, participated in two academic conferences on the subject of Central and Eastern Europe.
On June 6–7, 2025, she took part in the 1st Convention of Central and Eastern Europe Researchers, titled “East-Central Europe in a Period of Change. Politics and Society,” organized by the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. In the panel “History, Identity, and Memory of the Nations of CEE,” Dr. Bazhenova presented a paper titled “Metamorphoses of Memory: Ukraine and the Legacy of World War II.”
The next event was the international academic conference “Russian Imperialism – Memory and History,” which took place on June 12–13, 2025, at the University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. Dr. Bazhenova appeared on the panel “Imperial Legacy and Russia’s Historical Policy” with a paper titled “Reviving Empire: The Evolution of the National Idea in Post-Soviet Russia.” The event was attended by researchers from academic centers in countries including Azerbaijan, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Ukraine.
