Professor Waldemar Paruch, Member of ICE Board, has passed away

On May 8, 2022, in the evening, after a long and serious illness, Professor Waldemar Paruch left us. He was a Member of ICE Board. Professor at the Institute of Political Science and Administration of Marie Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

He was the author of about 240 scientific papers, including ca. 30 publications combining the knowledge of a political scientist and a historian. In 2021, the Institute published his monograph “Realism and values. On foreign policy of Law and Justice Party”.

In his social and political activities, Professor Paruch was known as the founder of the Centre for Strategic Analyses in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, as Advisor to the Minister of Education and Science on Higher Education, Advisor to the Marshal of the Sejm on Foreign Policy of Poland and expert on such initiatives as i.a. Europe Carpathian Mountains Initiative or summits of presidents of parliaments of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. He was the originator of ICE establishment and also the Museum of Kresy Wschodnie. He was the editor-in-chief of the highly ranked journal “Przegląd sejmowy”. In April 2022, the president of the Republic of Poland awarded Professor Paruch with the Commander’s Cross with the Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
