Seminar ’30 years of Poland-Moldova cooperation in times ofmultidimensional crises’

The Central Europe Institute was a partner in organising a seminar dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Polish-Moldovan relations, which took place on 28 November 2022 as part of the Civic Forum “Poland, Europe and the World in the Era of Multidimensional Crises”, organised by the Catholic University of Lublin.

The conference opened with a lecture by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Moldova, Tomasz Kobzdej.

The first panel, featuring former Ambassadors of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Moldova – Wiktor Ross, Piotr Marciniak and Bugumil Luft – dealt with the aims and practice of Polish diplomacy towards this partner in the past. The discussion was chaired by Professor Beata Piskorska, Vice-Chancellor of the Catholic University of Lublin.

The second panel with the participation of Kamil Całus (Centre for Eastern Studies), Octavian Milewski (Radio France Internationale) and Dr Piotr Oleksy (Institute of Central Europe in Lublin) was devoted to the analysis of factors determining Polish-Moldovan relations and the place of Moldova in contemporary Europe.

The final discussion, led by Dr Piotr Oleksy (IEE), concerned Polish development aid and social relations.  Theoretical and practical perspectives on these issues were presented by: Dr Małgorzata Sikora-Gaca (Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz), Krzysztof Kolanowski (former Director of the Representative Office of the Foundation for International Solidarity in Moldova), Tomasz Horbowski (Director of the Representative Office of the Foundation for International Solidarity in Moldova) and Professor Valentin Constantinov (Moldovan State University in Chisinau).
