Robert Rajczyk on Radio Lublin Discusses the Constitutional Crisis in Hungary

Dr hab. Robert Rajczyk, Senior Analyst at the Institute of Central Europe, was a guest on a Radio Lublin programme, where he commented on the current political situation in Hungary.

In a conversation with Ewelina Kwaśniewska, the IEŚ expert discussed the constitutional crisis surrounding the shortening of President Tamás Sulyok’s term of office and the implications of the 17th Amendment to Hungary’s Fundamental Law (Magyarország Alaptörvénye).

The interview also addressed the process of restructuring Hungary’s legal and institutional framework, initiated by the TISZA party and Prime Minister Péter Magyar, as well as the dispute with the opposition party Fidesz over the legality and political consequences of the proposed changes.

Robert Rajczyk noted that the election of a new president would constitute an important test for the current parliamentary majority and its declared agenda of renewing public life in Hungary.
