Agata Domachowska comments in the media on Ratko Mladić’s funeral

Agata Domachowska, PhD, an IEŚ expert, commented for Radio Wnet and “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna” on the funeral ceremonies of Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska who was convicted of war crimes, including the Srebrenica genocide.

The expert noted that the manner in which Mladić was commemorated demonstrates that Serbia has yet to fully reckon with its role in the Yugoslav wars of the 1990s. In her view, the glorification of a convicted war criminal may also adversely affect Serbia’s relations with its neighbours and its European aspirations.
