Damian Szacawa in the Media: Swedish Elections and Security in Northern Europe

Dr Damian Szacawa, an expert at the Institute of Central Europe and Head of the Baltic-Nordic Team, has in recent days commented on the most important developments concerning security and politics in Northern Europe.

In connection with the Swedish parliamentary elections, held on 13 September 2026, the ICE expert gave a series of interviews and media comments on the country’s political situation, its security policy, and the significance of Sweden’s NATO membership.

His media appearances included:

• a commentary on the results of the Swedish elections for TVP Info’s “Panorama” programme
• an interview on TVP Info’s “Eye on the World” programme
• expert commentary for Michał Pietraszewski’s article “They Joined NATO Three Years Ago, Now They Are Heading to the Polls. The Baltic and a Russian Trace in Parliament in the Background”, published on the Radio ZET website

Damian Szacawa also contributed to the debate on security in the Baltic Sea region and the Arctic. In the “Summit of Europe” podcast, produced by Polish Radio and TVN24, he took part in a discussion entitled “Walking on Thin Ice – The Arctic Cold War”, devoted to geopolitical competition in the Arctic and the security challenges facing Northern Europe.
