On 8 October, the Polish History Museum in Warsaw hosted “Jerzy Giedroyc Day”, an event devoted to the ideas and legacy of the founder of the Paris-based Kultura.

Dr Anton Saifullayeu, Deputy Director of the Institute of Central Europe for Research and Analysis, took part in one of the debates, entitled “History versus memory in 21st-century Central and Eastern Europe”. The discussion focused on the relationship between history, memory, and contemporary perceptions of the past in the region.

The debate also featured Dr Łukasz Kamiński, Dr Alvydas Nikžentaitis, and Prof. Andrij Portnov. The discussion was moderated by Krzysztof Niewiadomski.

The event was organised to mark the 120th anniversary of Jerzy Giedroyc’s birth. The programme also included a debate on the intellectual legacy of Kultura and its role in shaping Central and Eastern Europe, as well as a piano recital by Marek Tomaszewski.
