MEP Niels Geuking Visits the Institute of Central Europe


On Friday, 28 August, Anton Saifullayeu, Deputy Director for Research and Analysis at the Institute of Central Europe in Lublin, met with Niels Geuking, a Member of the European Parliament. Mr Geuking led a joint delegation from the European Heritage Label Bureau and the European Parliament on a visit to Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Institute’s history, activities, and principal areas of research and analysis were presented. The discussion focused on the situation in Ukraine and Belarus, the role of Central Europe in shaping European policy towards Eastern Europe, and opportunities to develop expert and institutional cooperation.

An important topic of the meeting was the potential of Lublin and the Institute of Central Europe to serve as a major centre for dialogue between Central and Eastern Europe. The participants also discussed opportunities for involving the Institute in broader European cooperation and in the debate on the future of the region.
