Russian information policy under scrutiny. Andrzej Szabaciuk for Radio ZET

Reports of a possible outbreak of a dangerous disease in Siberia have raised international concern. Radio ZET asked Dr Andrzej Szabaciuk, an analyst at the Institute of Central Europe, about the response of the Russian authorities and the way information about the situation is being communicated.

The expert drew attention to the Russian authorities’ restrictions on the flow of information and the importance they attach to controlling the narrative. In his view, Russia’s current information policy resembles mechanisms known from the Soviet era. Dr Szabaciuk also addressed the safety of procedures, the possible causes of the situation, and emerging speculation concerning biological weapons.

The full interview with Dr Andrzej Szabaciuk is available on the Radio ZET website.
