„Rocznik IEŚW” nr 1/2022
Facing New Challenges: The Security and Resilience of East-Central European States in the 21st Century

Security, both in national and international dimensions, evolves very quickly, as do novel threats and challenges. A new feature of increasing importance in the field of international security architecture is a growing need for states to bolster their resilience and develop conditions, resources and strategies in order to adjust to the new, varying and unexpected conditions and reality (both physically and in cyberspace).

We invite papers in English that examine those processes and phenomena. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: new challenges and threats to security in the East-Central European region and in the specific states of the area; the resilience and security of infrastructure, networks; the resilience strategies of states and international organizations. Interdisciplinary research and case-study analyses are welcome.

The paper MUST NOT exceed 40,000 characters (of overall length) and MUST be prepared in accordance with the editorial guidelines (https://ies.lublin.pl/en/yearbook/guidelines/ ).

Deadline for submissions: 15th May 2022.

Please note that authors who published their papers in the Yearbook in 2021 are NOT ELIGIBLE to submit papers in 2022.

Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and Russia: geopolitics, security, and resilience

Due to their geopolitical location, the states of Central Europe are an attractive subject as regards international studies. However, it must be noted that although the quality of international relations has improved as a result of globalization processes, technological development, etc., the Realpolitik approach to these relations has not lost its raison d’être; governments still use the notions of state’s welfare and security as a basis in decision-making processes.

We invite papers in English that examine Central Europe and the post-Soviet region from geopolitical, economic, security, and historical perspective(s). Potential topics include, but are not limited to, geopolitical competition in these regions, regional politics, and economy, security (especially resilience, hybrid threats, etc.). We especially welcome comparative and case-study analyses as well as interdisciplinary research papers.
