Instytut Europy Środkowej zorganizował panel podczas międzynarodowej konferencji online pt. „The future of EU enlargement and partnership policies: EU actorness in South-Eastern Europe and the Eastern Neighbourhood”, Ateny (Grecja), 15-16 października 2020. Prof. Beata Surmacz, dyrektor IEŚ, była moderatorem panelu pt. „Regional cooperation frameworks in South-East and Central-East Europe: Complementary initiatives or alternatives to EU integration?”, w ramach którego referaty wygłosili analitycy Instytutu Europy Środkowej: prof. Tomasz Stępniewski, zastępca dyrektora IEŚ: „The European Union, Russia and rivalry in the common neighbourhood”; dr Łukasz Lewkowicz, starszy analityk: „The Three Seas Initiative as an economic challenge for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe”; dr Damian Szacawa, starszy analityk: „The Council of the Baltic Sea States: An important supplement for EU integration”; prof. Konrad Pawłowski, kierownik Zespołu Bałkańskiego IEŚ: „The Berlin Process: A complementary initiative or ‘cheap replacement’ for the EU Enlargement?”; prof. Agata Domachowska, starszy analityk: „‘Too good to be true?’ The Mini Schengen and a chance for a real cooperation between the Western Balkan countries”.
